End of 2017

What a busy Term 4 Room 1 has had! There was the pet day, swimming lessons, Topic work, the visit to Reefton Hospital to see the Christmas display and Room 1 and Room 2's big day out.

We finished up our topic 'Aboriginal Myths and Legends' with some fabulous art work.

The children also re-told some of the myths in their shared writing.

The last two weeks of school have been full of making Christmas art, with some amazing results!

Today we had our big day out. Room 1 and 2 started with boat making and crafts in the morning. After morning tea, we went over to the Domain for some games organised by Room 6 (a BIG thank you to Mr Davey). Then we went down to the river to try out our boats and have a picnic lunch.

A great day was had by everyone.
Thank you to all the parents who came to join us in the fun.

Week 5

Room 1 has been working hard on our topic (Aboriginal Myths and Legends) for this term. We have been listening to stories, experimenting with dot art, and making boomerangs.

The children made paper boomerangs that really fly!

We have also been working on our wall display of the 'Aboriginal Dream-time'.
The children have coloured some beautiful Australian animals and lovely 'body paint' to their 'humans'. It looks amazing!

This term we had a change to our sharing. The children had to bring along something that started with the letter or blend of the week. It has been a huge success, the children have been very creative with their sharing!

We have Cohen with his Fish in Frozen Ice in a Fry Pan, and Trelise with her picture Frame.

Mrs Wallace added to the fun by helping the children make Flowers last Friday. They are very beautiful!

Room 1 had a change to our sharing. The children now need to bring in something that starts with the letter or blend of the week. The children put on their thinking caps and came up with some interesting things to share. We had some apples!

Cohen showed us how to shut his computer!

We had a couple of sheilds!

A shiny unicorn, and some sheep.

Week 6+7

This week we co-constructed a plant dance representing our plant's life cycle.

At the beginning of this term, Room 1 planted some flower seeds for Mr Davey's garden.

Look how much they have grown!

Over the last fortnight the students of Room 1 have been playing with the 'Octopus's garden'. They have used this as their focus for art. Here are some of their lovely pictures of what the 'Octopus's garden' might look like.

Mid-term update

Room 1 students have been working hard on their handwriting in the first half of the term with great results!

Great letter formation Layton!

An example of the beautiful handwriting that our children are producing, well done!

In week 5, the children have been trying out playing to the beat of different music genre.
Our favourites are, Octopus's garden and Albatross.

Friday 11 August 2017

Room one has been very creative with Mrs Wallace on Fridays. They are enjoying building things out of boxes and bottles, and expressing themselves with paint.

Room 1's plants are growing well! Mr Davey will have some awesome flowers for the school garden in no time.

We are looking forward to planting them out in a few more weeks.

We have used the new plants as our focus for art this week. There is now lots of beautiful flowers hanging up in the classroom.
